The "FEATHER" is all about the Mississippi
Delta Flyway Region--a duck hunting mecca…
It was 1972, back when
lead-shot was still legal. I was a young boy at the age of 4, in the
duck blind for my first time. My father would pass on the tradition
as his forefathers did for him. As a flock of Pintails were
decoying, I would hear “get em”— as I would squeeze the trigger of
the old side-by-side .410Ga. The gun was a Stevens, an old
“hand-me-down” from a couple of generations before. No telling how
many ducks expired before the barrel of the old relic. In fact, my
father still owns that very gun that myself and 3 brothers learned
on, just as the old pros like dad, grandpa, and my uncles once did.
For me, those days are neither gone-nor forgotten. Now many years
later, we are still enjoying the same seasonal sport with our young,
passing on the tradition; along with many fine folks as clients too.
Plaquemines Parish’s lower Mississippi River
“delta” region offers some of the finest duck hunting in the
country. Folks from many different migratory flyway regions across
the country visit Fin & Feather annually, in search of mainly one
thing in mind; and that is bagging the variety of different
waterfowl species which this region is so renowned for. You will
generally harvest any of the following species common to this region
including: pintail, mallard, wigeon, gadwall, blue and green-winged
teal, redhead, black duck, canvasback, scaup, and shoveler. Your hunt will consist of hunting from a flat bottom aluminum duck boat, which is a safe and comfortable shallow water vessel powered with an air-cooled Mud Buddy engine for easy navigation by your guide throughout the delta estuary. We also offer our area’s
“Cast and Blast”- where you can enjoy fine Louisiana saltwater
fishing after the morning’s duck hunt.
Come and experience a duck
hunting adventure, Fin and Feather style...
